We produce these 1/4" thick fiberglass Lagoon and custom shaped cleat backing plates on our own cnc machine.

We suggest that the backing plates are fixed in place using flox and epoxy which will add significantly to the strength and rigidity and transfer the cleat load to a much larger area of the deck structure. After removing the existing cleat nuts place the backing plate in position and mark around it. Sand with course grit all the places where you are going to attach the backing plates. Paint a very thin coating of epoxy, just anough to wet the cabin roof surface and the backing plate. Wipe off with a rag. Before curing mix some epoxy and flox so that if you put some on a wood tongue depressor you can turn it upside down without it dripping or moving. Smear some on the backing plate and fix in position with the original washers and nuts. Snug down so the epoxy and flox oozes out but do not over tighten. After cure tighten them down.
